WHAT IF I MOVE TO ANOTHER CITY OR EVEN ANOTHER COUNTRY?

TROUBLE SHOOTING From DIGITAL ORTHODONTICS - Solo Edition by Dr. Bak Nguyen

Moving to another city, the best course of action is to keep contact with your attending through telecommunications. Since COVID, everyone, even if they haven't moved, are doing so. That said, you will have to keep in mind that even if you have recuperated all of your aligners, you will still need to show up in clinic eventually, for the clinical work inside of your mouth.

Within 17 years plus, I have many, many patients who moved. For as long as the communication is tight and that the patient comes back in clinic when needed, I can still finish the treatment. Now, more than ever, I will need my patient to be very compliant.

That said, if you are changing states or countries, now we have a legal issue. The medical and dental licenses are state-based. In other words, it is legally mandatory that both the patient and the doctor are in that particular state or province, even through telecommunication.

That is the actual legality of our system. In that case, you will need to find an attending doctor from your new state or country to take over your case. And yes, usually, that will mean extra fees and delays, even if you've received a credit from your first attending.
