WHAT IS THE COST? HOW MUCH IS THE PRICE?

WHAT IS THE COST? HOW MUCH IS THE PRICE?

FINANCE/MONEY From DIGITAL ORTHODONTICS - Solo Edition by Dr. Bak Nguyen

Of course, you have to ask that question! It won't be a surprise if I tell you that it depends on your case. The cost of your treatment is based on the difficulty of your case and the expertise it will take to solve it.

Surprisingly, it does not mean faster is cheaper. In the right hands, complex cases can be very smooth and even fly by like a breeze. So do not be mistaken to think that you are paying for time, you are paying for expertise.

As this work involves dentists from 5 different countries, the answer on price above is the universal one. I am from Quebec, Canada. By 2022, an orthodontic treatment with aligners will range from 3500 up to 8500 Canadian dollars. This is not an absolute but it can guide you through the range of fees.

I can tell you that cases below 12 months will range in the low $5000 while the average cases which are between 12 to 18 months, will be somewhere between $6000 and $7000.

Those cases above 18 months will be priced north of $7500. Once more, this is not an absolute, merely a guide to help you understand the fees in Quebec, Canada, by 2022. Also, know that the time given is an estimate, not an engament. Doctors talk in months to give you an idea. In their mind, they are talking in terms of stages and technics required. So if you were quote for 18 months, your case can finish sooner if you are compliant and you both were lucky not to encounter any road block.

You won't have any rebate on your quote, it just mean that your attending and yourself have successfully and smoothly navigate through your treatment.

On the other hand, even if you were quoted for 18 months and your cases required more time, if you haven't done anything wrong from your part as losing your aligners, stopping your treatment, etc, your attending will usually carry on without charging you more.

You are not paying for time, but for expertise. That said, it is very important for you to come to a clear understanding with your attending before treatment.

On fees, please notice that people utilizing more specialized technics and micro-perforation, surgery and extra appliances are all fees that are adding up to your bill. Retention is usually charged only by the end of the orthodontic treatment. And yes, retention is mandatory.

To that, you need also to think about your regular dental fees as check-ups, cleanings, cavities, and any implants or restoration works that will have to be done at the end of your orthodontic process. So yes, this can be a little overwhelming.

This is why it is mandatory for you to consult with your attending before treatment and to have a complete treatment plan built so you know what to expect and the finances ahead.

In your consultation, you might have more than just a quote for your orthodontic treatment. You might have a map of your dental journey ahead. Your doctor in orthodontic is acting as the conductor of your dental team. I hope that helped.
